Bambino Buddy-Ball
Giving kids with special needs their chance to shine!
The Bambino Program is for developmentally and physically challenged youth, helping them enjoy the full benefits of participation in an athletic environment structured to their abilities. More than the skills of baseball learned through the experience, the value of the Bambino program is found in the therapeutic and socialization benefits of participating in sports; strengthening of participants’ self-esteem; the opportunities to mainstream into other divisions of play, and the discipline of teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play. Playing with the same equipment on the same fields, the Bambino participants can experience the joys of pulling together, being cheered, and earning awards for their achievements.
The new division is for players aged six and above and will run for six weeks starting on Saturday, May 7th. Bambino is free of charge, with one practice/game per week held Saturday evenings at 6 pm. All players will be provided with a jersey and hat.
Volunteers make it all possible
A critical element of the program are volunteers who “buddy” with Bambino players. With that in mind, WYBS is seeking a special group of leaders - adults are players - who can help us create a fun and inclusive environment for our inaugural year of the Bambino league. This will be a rewarding experience for the players involved and those who volunteer to help create a fantastic experience for all Bambino players.
