Baseball Divisions
Babe Ruth (Ages: 13-15)
Starting Spring 2022, WYBS will be restructuring the Babe Ruth Division to a competitive in-town only league to foster more participation and skill development for this age group. Similar to what players have experienced at the Majors level, the new league will be comprised of 6 teams that will play 12-14 games on weeknights only, followed by playoffs at the conclusion of the regular season. Games will be played on the full size 90ft diamonds located at Skillings, McDonald and Lynch fields.
Majors (Ages: 10-12)
An in-town competitive league that plays on the 60' diamond and '50 pitching mound. Players are drafted onto teams based on tryouts held each fall. Teams are comprised of 12, 11 and 10 year-olds, with a limit of three 10 year-olds per team. Games are weekdays at 5:45, with some Saturday and Sunday afternoon games at Nutile Field. Teams play with full baseball rules including leading, stealing and pitching from the stretch.
Triple A (Ages: 10-12)
This in-town league, while competitive, continues to focus on skill development. Players pitch and games are played using Majors rules. Games are weekdays at 5:45 with some Saturday and Sunday afternoons at Nutile, Ginn and MacDonald Fields. Teams play on the 60-foot diamond.
Double A (Age: 9)
In-town instructional league that introduces more advanced baseball skills and competitive games with umpires, player pitching and catching. Games are weekdays at 5:45 and some weekends at various times played primarily on Mullen Field.
Single A (Age: 8)
This in-town instructional League reinforces basic skills (throw, hit, catch flies, field grounders, run bases) to small groups of boys and girls. Teams participate in skills stations on Saturdays designed to give players multiple reps and practice fundamentals. Teams play games on Sundays, with players pitching to one another under modified rules intended to encourage pitching development while simultaneously providing opportunities for other players to hit and field.
Rookie (Age: 7)
The Rookie Division is designed to provide instructional clinics in which players rotate through stations that teach the basic skills of baseball: throwing, hitting, catching fly balls, fielding grounders and base running. Teams play on Saturdays and Sundays at Nutile Field.
Clinic (Age: 6)
This Instructional League is intended to introduce basic skills (throw, hit, catch flies, field grounders, run bases) to small groups of boys and girls. Sessions are devoted to instruction through station training, where players rotate through stations designed to provide as many reps as possible. Clinics are held on Saturday mornings at Nutile Field.
