Winchester 9U Team Wins Their Second Silver Trophy
The Winchester 9u team picked up its second silver cup of the year in Trophy Weekend #2. Needing to save pitching arms for the upcoming Tournament of Champions, the team felt happy to split the weekend action and be in strong position for the coming week.
In Game 1 against Concord, Max Wilcken started on the mound and picked up the win, before being relieved by Max Brown and Moby Myers. The 9u team used an aggressive strategy on the base paths, frustrating the opposing team, and accumulating 12 stolen bases, while being caught only once. Wilcken, Myers and Harry Condon all scored two runs apiece, while Brown and Octavio Marino chipped in valuable hits. After the game, most of the team enjoyed the heat by hitting the beach!
The second game of the weekend was more challenging against a very talented Tewksbury club. Sean Garrity started on the mound, and JD Souza and Caleb Davis hurled in relief. The 9u team lost 10-0 in the contest, with Octavio Marino picking up the only hit off a tough Tewksbury starting pitcher. Despite the outcome, the team gathered its trophy in good spirits and is excited to compete in the Tournament of Champions.
