On July 21st the Winchester 10U Bay State team captured first place in Round One of the Bay State Baseball Tournament Champions. The undefeated 8-0 Winchester team faced a fired-up Belmont squad intent on avenging two previous tournament losses to Winchester.

Starter Jack Silberhorn threw four strong innings with seven strikeouts. With the score tied at 3-3, Max Richardson came on in relief to start the fifth inning and shut down the Belmont bats. River Maclin had three quality at bats and BZ DeChristoforo sent the Winchester crowd into a frenzy with a clutch walk-off single giving the 10U squad a gutsy 4-3 victory!

The 10U team has great pitching depth with Max Richardson, Nathan Wan, BZ DeChristoforo, Jack Silberhorn, and lefty Cole Cassidy leading the way. The top of the batting order is a nightmare for opposing teams! Leadoff hitter, William Ferrari, is an absolute pest for pitchers and catchers. He and speedster, Darin Shaw, are consistently setting the table for meaty hitters Silberhorn, Maclin, Richardson, DeChristoforo, and Cassidy. The superb defense held opposing teams to a total of eight runs over nine games in round one. In true “Get off My Lawn” fashion, outfielders Shaw, Ferrari, Wan, and lively glove-man, Gus Toomey, are tracking down whatever comes their way.

The depth for the 10U team has been key for numerous victories. Owen Richarson has caught everything thrown his way. Brendan Kutylo is an on base machine. Versatile, Shane Doherty, Parker Tammaro, and Jovic Stachelski are the glue guys every good team needs. Hits from Ilyas Chaker, Dylan Sala, and Ben Saurman have kept many rallies going.

Congratulations to the 10U players and manager, Chris Maclin. He along with coaches, Doug Richardson, Benny DeChristoforo, Fabio Sala, and Bruce Cassidy have a tall task ahead of them to keep their undefeated record intact as Round Two of play is now underway. Best of luck to the team as they look to repeat their 2020 Bay State championship!
