Winchester Red 12U capped off an undefeated season on Sunday, June 13, 2021, against a tough Arlington team to win the championship. Arlington got off to a great start, jumping out to a commanding 6-1 lead through the top of the third inning. Winchester battled back with three runs in the bottom of the 3rd before Arlington responded by cementing their lead at 10-4 in the top of the 4th. With their backs against the wall, an undeterred Winchester team showed their true strength of character and came out in the bottom of the 4th with all cylinders firing to score seven runs and take an 11-10 lead going into the final inning. However, a strong, talented, and determined Arlington team would not be cowed so easily and scored a hard-earned run in the top of the last inning to tie the score 11-11. Those efforts proved too little too late as an unwavering Winchester team would not either be deterred or denied a perfect season as they capped off the final inning with strong hitting and multiple stolen bases, culminating in the winning run.

Winchester Red’s championship victory hallmarked a whole team approach to the season. Though the Winchester team came into the season with players of different experience levels, from novice to veteran, each player had their unique strengths, whether it was hitting, defense, motivation, attitude, or simply a hunger to learn. When combined, these strengths complimented each other to form the foundation of what would become the 12U softball champions of 2021. Congratulations to each and every player on a victorious season!
