The Thunder edged out the Red Wings Monday night in a hard fought battle at McDonald Field. The Red Wings jumped out early scoring one run in the first, and were able to hold the lead through two strong innings by pitcher Dean Roberts and strong defense by Brody Monk and Andrew Bolognese.

The Thunder pulled ahead in the 3rd on a base hit by Luke Seitz that scored Nicky Ulbricht and Joey Hallett.  Seitz would also cross the plate that inning on a single by Colby Spence.  The Thunder added to their lead in the 4th with clutch hits by Sam Albiani, Thomas Lentine and Qole Simpson, taking an 8-1 lead into the fifth.

The Red Wings were not going away quietly, however, and rallied back to pull within 2 with big hits by Dean Roberts, Chris Fiore and Nate Manganelli.  Pitchers Oliver Bass, Will Marshall, Brody Monk and Caleb Davis kept the Thunder quiet in the last two frames, setting the stage for a dramatic bottom of the 6th.  The Red Wings were able to load the bases, bringing Max Brown to the plate with 2 out and down one run.  Thunder closer Luke Seitz was able to get Brown to ground out to second to earn the save and secure the 8-7 victory for the Thunder.
