Raptors Hold Out for Win Over Hoppers
The Raptors held off a late charge from The Grasshoppers avenging their opening season loss last night at McDonald Field winning 10-8.
Led by hits from Harry Condon, JD Souza, and Matt Melkonian, the Raptors got off to an early 3-0 lead in the first. The Grasshoppers responded and took a 4-3 lead into the 3rd with RBI’s from Peter Toner and Ayla Capone. In the 4th, the Raptors took a commanding 8-4 lead on a singles parade including a sharp hit up the middle from Grayson McLean.
The Grasshoppers roared back in the bottom of the frame and loaded the bases, but Alex Barrile made an outstanding snow-cone catch in left field to end the rally. Ben Salehpour and Jack Doherty pitched a flawless last 3 innings for Raptors on what turned out to be a beautiful night to watch a ballgame.
