Winchester takes down Reading, 9-2, to win Baystate 9U Championship

Winchester cruised to an easy victory over Reading 9-2 on Friday night to capture the Baystate 9U championship. Winchester fired up the offense in the first inning, when Ben DeChristoforo singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.  River Maclin was on the pitcher’s mound and earned the win for Winchester. He lasted four innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out seven.

Cameron Conwell was on the hill for Reading. He lasted five innings, allowing eight hits and nine runs while striking out three.  Winchester hit their first home run of the year as Darin Shaw hit a blast over the left fielder’s head in the third inning. Winchester scattered eight hits in the game. Jack Silberhorn and Darin Shaw each collected multiple hits to lead Winchester

Winchester didn’t commit a single error in the field. Max Richardson had the most chances in the field with seven.

Nathan Wan entered the game in the 5th and went two innings for the save. The last out of the game came on a line drive caught by Cole Cassidy.

With the win, Winchester ended the season at 8-1-1 and celebrated at the mound with the presentation of the Baystate Cup.
